About Dr. Lovett
For over 15 years, Ben Lovett has been researching, teaching, and consulting about assessment and disability issues. A full-time faculty member at Teachers College, Columbia University in the School Psychology Program, he teaches courses on psychological assessment and legal/ethical issues in school psychology. Dr. Lovett supervises and conducts research on assessment and testing. (See his full CV here.) He also maintains a consulting practice, working with schools and testing agencies to improve validity and fairness in educational assessment, particularly for examinees with disabilities. Finally, as a licensed psychologist, he conducts psychotherapy focused on test anxiety and academic anxiety.
Dr. Lovett grew up in Philadelphia, went to Penn State for his undergraduate work in psychology, and then went to Syracuse University for doctoral training in school psychology. After many years in Upstate New York, he moved to Manhattan in 2019.
